To clean the inside of your kettle, first cut a lemon into about eight pieces and throw it into the barrel.

Fill the kettle with water to the maximum level, then switch on the kettle before emptying the kettle and rinsing several times to reveal its shine.

The lemon cleaning hack also worked on plastic, stainless steel, ceramic, electric, and stovetop kettles.

Dee also revealed that after cleaning her kettle with lemon, there was no lemony or sour aftertaste.

Another Australian mom, Carolina McCauley of Perth, went viral earlier this year for sharing a video of another kettle cleaning hack.

To remove kettle stains, she put a cup of white vinegar and a cup of water in the appliance, then let it sit for 30 minutes before it boiled.

The liquid was then poured out and the kettle looked sparkling clean from the inside.

The mottled spots on the bottom of the kettle appear over time due to overuse and minimal cleaning.

The high acid content in vinegar is known to kill bacteria, fungi and germs and also works as a great natural cleaning product.

It is also safe to combine water with vinegar when cleaning, as the two do not form a chemical reaction.

After 48 hours, the video was viewed more than 135,000 times and many thanked Carolina for sharing her cleaning tip.

‘This works a treat!! I never looked in my kettle until I saw your hack and wow I can’t believe how well it works,” one woman wrote.
