Hands-on review: Enacfire A9 true wireless ANC earbuds

The price of truly wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation continues to fall. Happy Days.

As many of us have probably noticed by now, the world seems to be changing faster than ever as the years go by.

Technology is a major driving force behind this accelerating pace of change, filtering into every aspect of our lives.

Regardless of your level of personal comfort with these advancements, the benefit is often that what was once new and expensive will inevitably become mundane and cheaper.

This also applies to truly wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation. These things usually cost three digits when they first appeared, just a few years ago.

Then the first pairs under £ 100 started to appear a few years ago. Now we’re at the point where you can get a good quality pair of ANC wireless earbuds for under £ 50.

What a time to be alive! An individual’s justification for spending significantly more than this amount today would be for reasons other than just audio quality and convenience.

Sure, Apple AirPods Pro is still a highly desirable blend of hi-fi sound, seamless integration, and smart technical convergence. If there’s anyone who knows how to push our compulsive / impulsive purchase buttons, it’s Apple.

However, if you can live without all the care sensors (and let’s face it, most of us can), you can save a serious wedge by grabbing a perfectly functional,aural pair of earbuds – like these Enacfire A9s – and saving the rest of your money to get you through the next pandemic.

The A9s are a relatively, deceptively simple pair of truly wireless, active noise canceling earbuds – which in itself is a description that would have invited a lot more hyperbolic hoo-hah a few years ago. That this is now quite the expected norm for a new pair of earbuds, well, here we are in 2021. Designed for every type of user – runners, gym bunnies, podcast enthusiasts, deep bass EDM types, HD music fans etc – and to suit every type of lifestyle, the Enacfire A9s packs a hefty punch in the grand price versus features smackdown. The flagship earbuds for Enacfire, the A9s, feature as many as four microphones for optimal noise cancellation and voice / video call quality. These microphones work together to detect ambient noise and produce an equivalent anti-noise to neutralize it before it reaches the ear. The inward-facing microphones measure sound levels 120 times per second, effectively filtering out unwanted outside noises by 80 percent. The buttons also offer the classic optional transparency mode for when your situation requires it (eg walking, jogging, office use, etc.) and you need to let in some more outside noise. We generally find that music sounds better with transparency mode turned off as the bass and mids get that little bit richer and fuller, but of course it’s nice to have the option anyway. The difference between the two settings on the A9s is hardly day or night anyway, so it’s not like your music will suffer terribly if you forget to turn the setting on or off.

The A9s have a lot more to offer the savvy budget-conscious consumer: an estimated total playtime of 32 hours (YMMV) from the cozy, pocket-friendly charging case; a restrained and subtle design;

a good fit in the ear; IPX7 water resistance; Bluetooth 5.0; Fast charging via USB Type-C – these are all the boxes most people want to tick. At around £ 50 in the UK, it’s hard not to think of these earbuds as a good deal.

If you’re looking for a pair of truly wireless active noise canceling earbuds that don’t have you constantly worrying about getting on the train or dropping a drain, but also provide a surprisingly high-quality user experience, the Enacfire A9s can do that. do well. just be the job.
