Concerns are growing about the long-term future of former British number one Kyle Edmund after he was ruled out for the battle of the British next month.

The former world number 14 and Australian Open semi-finalist will miss the England v Scotland event in Aberdeen just before Christmas.

Edmund, still 26, underwent knee surgery in the summer after a year of discomfort, and was hoping to be fit by the end of the year.

However, he continues to experience problems and it now seems unlikely, having not played since October last year, that he will return for the Australian Open.

That is also expected to happen without another former GB No. 1, Jo Konta, who may well have formalized her retirement plans by then.

The pre-Christmas event in Scotland, which will feature brothers Murray and Cam Norrie taking on a team from England led by Dan Evans, has named the co-captains.

Scotland will be led by Ally McCoist and golfer Paul Lawrie, while England will be Chris Sutton and television host Clare Balding.

Details of Emma Raducanu’s only appearance in the UK since the US Open have also been finalized. She will face Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse in an exhibition match as part of the Champions Tennis event at the Royal Albert Hall on November 28.

At the ATP Finals in Turin, Daniil Medvedev is on track for a final US Open rematch against Novak Djokovic after beating Alex Zverev 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 in their group match.
