Fernando Llorente is back in football after agreeing to join Spanish second division Eibar on a free transfer.

The 36-year-old had been left without a club following his departure from Italian Udinese in August.

However, the forward underwent a doctor at Eibar this Wednesday and is now ready to sign for them until the end of the season.

‘Eibar has reached an agreement in principle with Fernando Llorente for the incorporation of the Riojan forward until the end of the season, at the cost of passing the medical examination,’ the club said in a short statement.

Currently, the player is undergoing various medical tests at IMQ, the official Medical Insurer of the gunsmith club.

“In the next few hours the information will be expanded.”

The former Swansea, Tottenham and Juventus striker has scored 178 career goals in 601 games and hopes to add to that account in his new environment at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium.

Eibar currently occupies second place in the Second Division, one point behind Almería, as they seek to instantly return to LaLiga after last season’s relegation.
