A married female high school choral teacher has been arrested after she was arrested by her husband for having an affair with a female student.
The husband of Pennsylvania choir director Olivia Ortz, 26, of Hermitage, approached authorities after finding more than 100 incriminating messages between his wife and one of her teenage students.
Ortz was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of sexual activity with a 17-year-old student at Wilmington Area High School and one count of any unlawful contact with a minor for sexual offenses and criminal use of a communications facility.
Her husband, Cody Ortz, who works freelance in the music department at the same school, returned from a recent trip to Florida to discover the inappropriate exchanges on his wife’s Spotify chat feature on her iPad, the NY Post report.
Cody turned her in to the principal and Ortz was suspended on May 9, and a warrant for her arrest was issued on Friday, May 13.

Ortz was the choir director at Wilmington Area High School in Pennsylvania until she resigned on May 9.
Despite the warrant, Ortz did not immediately turn herself in, but sang in a local concert two days later on Sunday before giving herself up the following day, according to reports.
She was indicted by a district judge, who assigned her to Lawrence County Prison with $150,000 bail, which she posted.
In an uneasy twist of fate, Ortz’s high school pastor also faces similar allegations of sexual misconduct with students.
Jonathan Priano, 37, is accused of having a penchant for tickling his students’ feet and engaging in inappropriate relationships with them.
In June 2020, charges were filed against the former band and music teacher
Detectives – with the help of her husband – found more than 100 incriminating messages between Ortz and the 17-year-old college student that formed the basis for the prosecution against Ortz.
The indictment states that Ortz and the teen had a code word to warn each other if something went wrong in their flirtation or if “something bad” happened to one of them.
The teen admitted under questioning to police that she had been to Ortz’s house many times while Cody was away and that she stayed overnight and they had sex.
In another police interrogation with the teen and her parents, she admitted that she had continued to communicate with Ortz after they were arrested because “they were in love and had to support each other.”
She reported to police that she stayed at Ortz’s home on April 7, 8 and 9, and that they had a sexual relationship during that time, according to court papers.
