Fallon Sherrock’s historic journey gained even more momentum Thursday night at Wolverhampton when she became the first woman to reach the Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finals.

On Tuesday, Sherrock broke new ground to become the first player to enter the knockout stages after a thrilling 5-3 display to beat Gabriel Clemens.

Back at the Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton, the fan favorite Sherrock was in top form again when he swept Austria’s Mensur Suljovic to book a round of 16 date with Peter Wright.

‘Ohh yeeeessssss, loving every moment of this trip,’ he tweeted after his latest win, along with a thumbs-up selfie.

Talking to OnlineDartsTVShe added: ‘I’m very proud of myself. I’m in the last eight of a major competition, how awesome is that? I’m very proud of myself.

“I felt like I hadn’t been playing as well as before, but I wanted to try and get that hole. When I was down 2-0 I told myself that I shouldn’t worry about that. I kept believing in myself.

In her round of 16 match with Wright, she said: ‘He took my darts the other day and threw them and said he liked them, so his are the same. I’m going to go into that game saying that if I can take a couple of doubles and stay close to him … I’m not going to let him slip away. ‘

Sherrock produced a moving display that punished a Suljovic well below par on the night.

She came out with three highs and channeled the same spirit that saw her defeat this same opponent at Alexandra Palace in 2019, earning her the nickname ‘Queen of the Palace’.

Suljovic made a better start in this one, rushing to a 2-0 lead, but with the crowd on his side, Sherrock elevated his game to take three straight stages thereafter to get ahead.

Hitting double nine for a checkout brought her ahead at 3-2 before double five made it 4-2 in her favor.

The Austrian continued to have no real response for Sherrock and a magnificent bull finish was greeted by a huge roar from the crowd to put her in control at 5-3.

What followed was a routine close that again came to a head with a double nine to seal a 10-5 victory and the focus is now on his encounter with Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright for a place in the semifinals.
