Facebook employees will return to the office starting in July

The tech giant has reopened its offices in Menlo Park, California, and Seattle at 10% capacity. The company has said that it does not expect its most prominent offices to reach 50% capacity until early September.

According to a spokeswoman, employees received an email from the company Tuesday informing them that the Manhattan offices will open July 12 at 25% capacity.

Facebook workers have been able to work remotely since offices closed last spring and will be able to continue to do so for up to a month after their offices are back to 50% capacity, a spokesperson told Bloomberg in March.

Manhattan is showing signs of revival after a brutal year of empty office buildings when the pandemic hit. Wall Street firms and other companies are bracing for the return of more workers amid a loosening of social distancing rules.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. reopened its offices across the country this month and planned to bring its entire US workforce together, at least in shifts, beginning in early July. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. is also aiming for its US staff to rejoin next month.

Facebook has a few thousand employees in New York. Its offices will have specific changes when workers return: Self-service salad counters and cookie trays will be replaced with individualized prepackaged meals.
