Norfolk has for many years provided visitors with a piece of the quintessential English countryside, with its famous Broads, leisurely pace and charming coastline.

The queen has enjoyed her retirement to Sandringham, in the north-west of the county, since she was a princess, and it has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs.

Her grandfather, King George V, described the house as’ Dear old Sandringham, the place I love more than anywhere else in the world ‘, while George VI, the queen’s father, wrote to his mother:’ I have always been so happy here. and I love the place. ‘
