Erik ten Hag wants to keep a rejuvenated Marcus Rashford at Manchester United and is not worried about the striker’s contract situation.

Rashford has less than 10 months left on his current £200,000-a-week contract, although United have the option to extend it for a further 12 months.

The 24-year-old is coming off a scorching season due to an injury and loss of form, and it emerged that his representatives held secret talks with Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital last month.

However, Rashford has scored three goals in four games under Ten Hag and the United manager thinks the player is much happier at Old Trafford now.

When asked if he wants to keep Rashford, Ten Hag replied: ‘Absolutely. I don’t think his contract is about to expire – United have the situation under control.

“I see a happy Marcus Rashford. I see some phases in his game that we can improve, and we’ve been working really hard with him on different aspects over the past two and a half months.

“He really likes it and wants to transfer it to the field.

‘It starts with luck. He comes in every day smiling and you want to convey different aspects of your game.’
