An older man died after being stabbed during an altercation in Dublin.
Ardai was called to the scene shortly before 6 a.m. in a house in the Whitechapel Road area of Clonsilla.
The man, in his seventies, was found dead on the spot after suffering a number of stab wounds.
The scene is currently saved for a technical examination.
A man in his forties barricaded himself to another house nearby.
At the time of the incident, no other people were in the house.
Gardai said their protocols for a barricade incident had been implemented.
After the barricade incident was resolved shortly after 11:30 AM, Gardai arrested the man and is currently being held at Blanchardstown Guard Station.
Gardai said that all units involved in the incident have worked closely among Garda’s strategic and operational commanders with the strategic intention of “limiting the incident, preserving life and bringing the incident to a peaceful end”.
