Every award ceremony will look different in 2020 – and the Emmys will follow the trend in the fall. Still scheduled for September 20, the show will not take place as usual at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Instead, the 72nd Annual Emmy Awards are broadcast from home.
“We are delighted and honored to produce the event on September 20 and intend not only to ensure that it is not compromised by this crazy moment in our lives, but that it is the most memorable Emmys ever and that you have a great night, ”the producers of the show, including host Jimmy Kimmel, wrote in a letter obtained by Variety, who would be the main actors after the nominations were announced on July 28. “As you’ve probably guessed, we’re not going to ask you to come to the Microsoft Theater in downtown LA on Sept. 20. This year is still going to be the biggest night out in the TV industry … but we’re coming to you! ”
Leslie Jones, Tatiana Maslany, Josh Gad and Laverne Cox the nominees announced, showing that Netflix received a whopping 160 nods. Although there were many stubs – included Reese Witherspoon completely left out – the list was filled with many happy surprises. Brad Pitt landed a nod for his spot Saturday Night Live; Zendaya was nominated for her lead role in Euphoria and Schitt’s Creek finally got the recognition it deserved with 15 nominations!

“We’re going to make you look great – we explore the very latest technology to enable you to use good cameras and lighting and look forward to working with you to produce your unique ‘on screen’ moments” the letter said. .
