The Dodgers did not offer a contract to right-handed Yimi Garcia, making him a free agent, while they signed left-handed Scott Alexander and catcher Austin Barnes for one-year deals before Monday's non-tender deadline.

The club has signed contracts with the other nine players eligible for arbitration – Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy, Corey Seager, Pedro Baez, Kiké Hernández, Joc Pederson, Chris Taylor, Ross Stripling and Julio Urías. The Dodgers can conclude contracts with those nine players to prevent them from going through the arbitration process later in the winter.

Garcia, 29, comes from his first full season in the majors. He made 64 reliefs in Los Angeles and pitched on a 3.61-earned run average in 62 1/3 innings. He placed a 0.866 WHIP elite, but allowed 2.2 home runs per nine innings. He did not make the roster for the late season.

MLB Trade Rumors predicted that Garcia would have earned $ 1.1 million through arbitration.

Barnes came about with a $ 1.1 million contract. Alexander signed for $ 875,000. Both deals are fully guaranteed, an unusual step for executed contracts to prevent arbitrage.

Barnes, 29, was the opening day catcher of the Dodgers, but struggled offensively and continued his problems since his 2017 breakout season, until he was given the option to triple Oklahoma City in late July and lost the runway to rookie Will Smith. Barnes returned in September, but started only one game, ended up with six shots and was left behind in the late season. He beat .202 with five home runs and a .633 on-base-plus-slugging percentage in 242 record performances.

With Russell Martin on the free-agent market, Barnes is currently scheduled to serve as the Dodgers backup catcher behind Smith next season.

Top perspective Keibert Ruiz could also play a role in 2020.

The Dodgers could also seek help outside of this season.

The 30-year-old Alexander compiled an ERA of 3.68 in 28 games before joining the injured list of the left forearm in June. He missed the rest of the season and underwent a nerve-decompression operation on the forearm in September.
