“It has been a long journey for me and as of today it will continue. I’ve thought so many times about whether I should stay out of the company or come back,” Wilder said via Sky Sports.

“When I got my statue in my hometown and saw so many people arrive and celebrate with me and my family, to see all the emotions, grown men crying for their children and saying that he is a real real king made me feel like my work is not done.

“So here I am again, looking forward to returning to the ring. I look forward to coming to Barclays Center, a place where I’ve had my most devastating knockouts and a place I consider my second home.

“So where are all my Bombzquad people? It’s time to put on your war gear. And let’s get to work, honey. Bombzquad is back!’

It was Helenius’ second consecutive win against Kownacki, bringing his overall record to 31-3.

The Finnish boxer has vowed to cause even more upset when he faces Wilder in Brooklyn.

“It’s great to be back at Barclays Center in an even bigger fight than my last one. I have waited a long time for this opportunity and I will be ready for it,” Helenius said.

“I’m going to cause an even bigger upset than I did with Kownacki. I’m going for the belt, so this is a fight to prepare to hit that target.

“I can only become the best heavyweight in the world by beating the best and that is what I intend to do on October 15.”
