Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze could reportedly make an early return to first-team action this Saturday against the Wolves.

The 23-year-old winger, who impressed in his solo season at Palace, injured his Achilles tendon in training in May and was expected to be out until early 2022.

However, his recovery has accelerated and after appearing for 62 minutes for the club’s Under 23, Sun report that Eze has a chance to be named among the substitutes for this weekend’s Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.

If he does appear, it would be the ex-QPR’s first time appearing in front of fans at Selhurst Park in red and blue.

The 23-year-old moved to Selhurst Park from QPR for £ 16 million in the summer of 2020.

He impressed in his debut season in the Premier League, scoring four goals and setting up another six.

“He’s doing really well,” Eagles manager Patrick Vieira said last month.

Eze said his comeback “will feel like his debut again” without ever having played in front of local fans.

Patrick Vieira said in October that Eze was still a 'couple of weeks' away from being available.

“He has started training with the team, but he still has a couple of weeks to get involved because we have to be very, very realistic with the injury he had and the time he needs to be fitter to participate.”

When asked about his recovery in October, Eze replied: ‘The day I come back will be beautiful for me.

‘A beautiful experience hanging out with the fans. I have not experienced all the fans before. It’s going to be like my debut again. Amazing.’
