Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister Elma Averio supports her brother after a bombshell interview

Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister Elma Averio has shared a series of Instagram stories in support of her brother after his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan aired on Sunday night.

During the interview, Ronaldo accused Ten Hag and United bosses of trying to force him out of the club. He went on to blast Wayne Rooney after his former team-mate criticized his behavior and then accused United of a lack of ’empathy’ following his daughter’s illness.

Averio has taken to Instagram to say ‘truth be told’ and that she will ‘always be proud’ of Ronaldo – despite United fans criticizing him for ‘ruining his legacy’ at the club.

Averio’s first Instagram story saw her share a quote from Ronaldo’s interview. It read: ‘I don’t keep quiet about doors I’m unlikely to open again out of pride, but more out of respect for myself.’

For her second Instagram story, she again shared a photo of Ronaldo and Morgan sitting together. Above the picture she wrote: ‘I will always be proud of you my dear’.

Averio went on to call Ronaldo the ‘greatest pride of my life’ in his third Instagram story – which featured a short clip from the explosive interview.

Averio’s fourth Instagram story contained a news line about how Ronaldo said he does not respect current Man United boss Ten Hag. Averio wrote: ‘The truth is told’.

Ronaldo’s sister ended up sharing tweets in support of her brothers, posting them alongside love heart emojis.

Aveiro previously turned out for Ten Hag to replace the striker during United’s 0-0 draw with Newcastle.

Ronaldo made his second league start under the Dutch manager but lasted just 70 minutes before being replaced by Marcus Rashford.

Shortly after the match, Aveiro took to Instagram. She shared a screenshot of a news story with the following title: ‘Erik Ten Hag’s reasoning for replacing Cristiano Ronaldo’.

Aveiro wrote the accompanying caption: ‘It’s too late’ and added three sick face emojis – suggesting the Dutch manager had officially burned all bridges.

Ronaldo’s other sister, Katia, has also taken to social media on more than one occasion to support her brother.

Katia accused Portugal fans of being “forever ungrateful” following criticism of her Ronaldo’s performances for the national team in September.

Ronaldo endured a difficult night when Portugal played Spain. The 37-year-old missed some important chances as his side lost 1-0 to miss out on the semi-finals of the Nations League.

Fans hit out at Ronaldo’s display on social media, with some questioning whether he is still worthy of a place in the starting line-up.

But Aveiro jumped to Ronaldo’s defense and insisted the Manchester United striker is still ‘the best player in the world’.

‘He has his family and those who love him by his side. They will always be by his side no matter what,’ Aveiro wrote about his brother on Instagram.

‘But the current times don’t surprise me at all. The Portuguese spit on the plate they eat [from]it has always been like that.

‘That’s why when someone emerges from the ashes and changes mentality, it bothers… With you always, my king. Relax.

‘It is necessary to give a hand to those who have always given theirs to Portugal. But the Portuguese are sick, petty, soulless, stupid, ungrateful and eternally ungrateful. This guy sitting, he’s on his knees… There’s nobody to give him a hand,’ she continued.

‘It’s cruel. And it was already so much, but so much that he gave and gives. The one sitting is called Cristiano Ronaldo and he is simply the best player in the world.’

Ronaldo – who scored his 700th club goal in Manchester United’s win at Everton – is still eyeing a move away from Old Trafford.

Reports say his agent Jorge Mendes ‘has a clear mandate which is to find a club other than his current one in the next transfer window’.

Two of the potential destinations that have been named are Premier League giants Chelsea and his former club Real Madrid.
