The Portuguese team thrashed modest Israel (4-0) in a match in which Cristiano added another goal, but in which the Portuguese level left much to be desired, especially in a very weak second half, despite the two final goals. The Portuguese relaxation only allowed that, at the end of the first half, Fernando Santos’s pupils scored two goals: Bruno Fernandes and the aforementioned goal from CR7.
The Portuguese made it 2-0 at the end of the break, after wasting several times in that first half, including a free-kick that sent him sky-high. But with that goal, he redeemed himself and scored his 104th goal in 175 games. The Portuguese myth is only five goals away from the 109 scored by Iranian Ali Daei, the all-time top scorer for a national team. Cristiano left the court in the 71st minute.
Portugal had quite a few chances in the first half, but in the second they barely got close to the Israeli goal, Marciano, although the game, in that half, already had many changes. Curiously, the athletic Joao Félix did not enjoy any minute in this match. Despite this new relaxation, the Portuguese, through Joao Cancelo -the best of the match- and, again, Bruno Fernandes scored two final goals to complete the 4-0.
Portugal, in short, refines its preparation, although in tonight’s friendly they showed a discreet level of play … with many goals.
