Tottenham defender Cristian Romero has insisted there is “no need to panic” despite the club’s inconsistent start to the season.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team is in sixth place in the Premier League after having won five and lost four of their games thus far.
Tottenham were beaten 1-0 by West Ham last weekend, but Romero, who is on loan from Atalanta, believes that Nuno is the right man to carry them forward, describing him as “a very calm coach”.
Cristian Romero praised Nuno Espirito Santo, calling him a ‘very calm coach’
Romero said Sky sports: ‘Of course, after each defeat you are left with a feeling of bitterness, but we are already looking forward.
“The group remains strong and united in what we are trying to achieve and we are already focused on reacting to the setback.
‘From my time working with Nuno, I have already learned that he is a very easy going manager. It brings a lot of peace of mind to the dressing room as we have only had a short time working together as a group.
“There is no need to panic given that we are within the top six positions in the league and it is very tight from fourth place down. We are focused on giving the best version of ourselves, since we know with a clear mind that we can regain positive momentum. ”

After losing to West Ham in the Premier League, Tottenham beat Burnley in the Carabao Cup
Tottenham host Manchester United on Saturday in an intriguing game, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side looking to respond after their recent struggles.
Although Tottenham are competing in the Europa Conference League this season, Romero stressed that their goal is to eventually be involved in the Champions League.
Tottenham beat Burnley 1-0 in the Carabao Cup and will now look to score three points against United.
Romero said: ‘We will prepare for Manchester United in the best possible way to win in front of our fans. I came here to compete for trophies and to compete in the Champions League and that is the level that I think we should all aspire to reach. To achieve this goal, we have to remain united. “
Tottenham have the option of definitively signing Romero when his loan to Atalanta ends
Argentine international Romero has played ten games since joining Tottenham.
Nuno’s team started the season well, winning their first three league games, but then suffered three losses in a row and has found consistency hard to come by.
Tottenham have the option to sign Romero permanently next summer.
Having started in Belgrano, Romero joined Genoa in 2018 and later signed for Juventus, but did not play a match for them, instead remaining on loan at Genoa before heading to Atalanta, which he later joined permanently.
