Thomas Tuchel’s lack of connection with his Chelsea players reached the extent that some of them wanted to avoid playing on the same side of the pitch as his dugout, it can be revealed.

Tuchel, who was sacked yesterday by Chelsea’s new American owner Todd Boehly, was an emotional figure in his tech environment during his time at Stamford Bridge, often yelling at his players from the dugout.

But it was a habit that made his players sick. Sports post can reveal that some of Chelsea’s wide players didn’t like playing on Tuchel’s side of the pitch, along the East Stand of Stamford Bridge.

The players were fed up with Tuchel’s ‘constant barking and moaning’ – and regretted the way he moaned when they missed a tackle, cross, missed chance or didn’t cover quickly enough.

Tuchel often struggled to get the best out of his forwards, with Callum Hudson-Odoi on loan to Bayer Leverkusen and Timo Werner returning to RB Leipzig this summer. Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech were also close to a departure.

The revelation comes after a long list of bottlenecks between Tuchel, his players and the new owner.

Boehly, who also owns the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, is keen to create a more inclusive “American” style of club atmosphere with a “we’re in it together” focus. Tuchel’s style was seen more as ‘I’m in it for me’.

His body language and demands would have made harmonious relationships within the leadership’s new plans difficult.

Tuchel was sacked after his 100th appearance as Chelsea manager following the club’s dire 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

It is clear that the Stamford Bridge chieftains have made the decision to part ways with Tuchel ahead of the loss in Croatia.

Chelsea’s pre-season campaign was when cracks started to form and became apparent to a wider audience.

Tuchel, who unfortunately had to become more involved in transfers after losing the trusted network, which included director Marina Granovskaia and technical and performance advisor Petr Cech, which he had so valued and missed, cut a noticeably frustrated figure while Chelsea was in America.

Boehly and co-owner Behdad Eghbali were on hand at the Maksimir Stadium to watch the defeat in Zagreb and wasted no time in sacking the German.

Tuchel is leaving after leading Chelsea to UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup victory.

Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2021 to replace Frank Lampard and got off to a flying start by winning the Champions League in six months.

Last season Chelsea reached the finals of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, but lost to Liverpool both times. They also finished third in the Premier League.

In his first 50 games, they conceded just 24 goals and Tuchel was recognized for the impact he made. But in his last 50 games, they have conceded 53 goals, a sign of defensive failure hampering their trophy prospects

“I’m mad at myself and mad at our performance. I’m mad at myself for not seeing it coming,” he said after the loss in Zagreb.

“I was clearly in the wrong movie.”

Sports post exclusive revealed yesterday that Tuchel – who has been replaced by Graham Potter from Brighton – is in line to receive a £13million payout.
