What the hell is the title of this year’s new Call of Duty game? Is Activision doing the soft reboot thing again with Call of Duty: Black Ops? Or will it be Call of Duty: Vietnam? Or maybe Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War? Maybe we finally have a definitive answer thanks to the snack that has fueled countless CoD sessions late into the night … Doritos.
Several reliable sources of inside information for CoD information, including TheGamingRevolution and Charlie Intel, recently received images from a Doritos promotion that seems to confirm the name Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. We even get a logo for the game. Check out the images below.
Take this with a grain of salt, but Doritos has partnered with CoD for promotions in the past, so it’s very easy to believe they would do the same for this year’s game. The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War promotion seems to be a pretty standard “double XP with every bag” kind of deal, where people can enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a full year of double XP.
Interestingly, the Doritos promotion kicks off on October 5 which is probably not the actual release date of the game as that is a Monday but it strongly indicates the game is due out sometime in October. The last two CoD games were released in October, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this follows.
So, when can Activision officially reveal Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War? That’s a guess, as we’re way past the point where the new CoD game of the year would normally have been revealed. A beta codenamed “The Red Door” has even surfaced in the Microsoft store, and still no confirmation. Hopefully Activision will break their silence soon.
What do you think? Looking forward to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War now that Doritos’ authority has seemingly confirmed the game?
