Bindi Irwin paid a moving tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John on Tuesday.

The Wildlife Warrior, 24, shared a photo of herself walking hand-in-hand with the beloved Grease actress as they participated in a charity drive.

“One of the kindest and most beautiful souls the world has ever known,” Bindi captioned the photo on Instagram.

In the photo, the Australian icons were excited as they attended the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Center’s ‘Wellness Walk and Research Run’ at Melbourne’s Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Center on September 11, 2016.

Earlier that year, Olivia had paid special tribute to Bindi’s father Steve Irwin when she arrived at his annual gala dinner, which was held for the first time in Los Angeles, dressed in a khaki scarf.

Bindi continued to support Olivia during her battle with breast cancer when the star was diagnosed for a third time in 2017.

The conservationist attended Olivia’s Cancer Wellness & Research Center Gala in Melbourne in September of that year, just weeks before wishing her longtime friend a happy 69th birthday.

Bindi shared a photo of herself and Chandler, 25, on Instagram with the caption: ‘Hope your birthday was beautiful [Olivia]. Love you so much. Your strength and grace inspires the world.”

The friendship between the two came as no surprise, given Olivia’s strong love and connection to wildlife and sustainability.

Speaking to Women’s Weekly in 2021 about how nature has influenced and shaped her life, she said: “It’s very hard these days to get away from the ugly and the bad, but nature balances you, I feel, because we be part of that. We are part of the natural kingdom.

“As humans, we think we’re divorced, but we’re not. [My daughter] Chloe’s Dad [Matt Lattanzi] once told me that nature was his church and I thought that was a nice description.’

Olivia grew up on the green and leafy campus of the University of Melbourne, where her father Brinley Newton-John worked.

She went on to say that her mother had always had a passion for nature and sustainability, and so her love for wildlife dates back to her childhood.

“Nothing was wasted – we recycle and reuse everything. I’ve heard this all my life and it’s important to me. I really appreciate nature — above all else,” she said.

Olivia passed away peacefully Monday morning at the age of 73 at her Southern California home surrounded by family and friends.

It came after a brave and extraordinarily public decades-long battle with cancer, during which she was diagnosed three times in 1992, 2013, and, for the last time, in 2017.
