Spokespersons for Bernie Sanders’ The 2020 campaign puts back the chatter that the Vermont Senator is about to end his efforts to become the Democratic presidential candidate.
Since former vice president Joe Biden Strengthening his lead over Sanders by winning the Tuesday night primaries in Florida, Illinois and Arizona, there is an ongoing discussion about how long Sanders will stay in the 2020 race. These talks were extended Wednesday when Sanders campaign leader Faiz Shakir told the media outlets that their team would hold internal meetings to “assess” their prospects for the rest of the primary season.
Several journalists later reported that the Sanders campaign would scale down their digital ads.
The Sanders campaign has confirmed that they have deactivated all digital ads today, including Facebook campaigns, one of which launched yesterday. Campaign says they ‘save resources’.

While this is usually not a good sign for the future of a campaign, Axios released a story saying Sanders’ candidacy is over. Bloomberg News’ Laura Litvan the report highlighted in a now deleted tweet, and Axios has announced that they have corrected their report.
The new version of the Axios report confirms Tyler Pager’s characterization as their headline reads “Bernie Sanders deactivates Facebook ads for campaigns in 2020. However, Litvan’s initial version of the report and tweet were long enough to power the political world, and now Sanders’ team is restoring the ‘absolutely false’ idea that their campaign has ended:
Bernie just helps me report cold water that he’s stopping: “Nothing has changed since Faiz’s statement this morning”

absolutely not true. https://t.co/a04vDJwOX8

And Sanders himself weighed in:
“We are talking to our supporters. Anyone who suggests that we’re ending the campaign right now is not telling the truth. “
Sanders did not answer questions about whether he has a time frame to make a decision or whether he thinks there is a way to win.
