The designer of a controversial lingerie set has reacted after her work was criticized by more than 50,000 critics – and it seems she has the last laugh.

Jana, senior buyer of Bras N Things, is the mastermind behind the brand’s Hollywood Glam set, a sassy two-piece featuring a $59.99 cupless bra and $29.99 crotchless briefs that cover almost every inch of exposes the body, including the nipples and buttocks.

The provocative design was planned on Facebook because it was outrageously inappropriate for anyone but athletes and supermodels, with women joking that they’d feel like “Christmas ham” if they ever dared to wear it,

But Jana saw the funny side and defended her creation, revealing that it was one of the Australian underwear giant’s bestsellers in 2020.

“Hahahaha LOL, I’m the actual designer of this lingerie!” she wrote.

‘It was one of my bestsellers last year! I enjoyed all the entertaining comments and how it went viral. This gold flap floss lingerie will now go down in history.

‘I design lingerie for EVERYONE and maybe it’s inspired by Christmas ham.’

It comes after a photo of the set messed up social media when it was posted to Facebook earlier this week, with thousands comparing it to a piece of dental floss and string around a piece of meat.

Can’t wait to approach hubby who hides it under a large dressing gown, ask him if anyone has ordered a delivery of roast ham, only to strip dramatically in front of him and start twerking ‘down, prices are down,” one woman wrote.

A second had the same thought: ‘As a pregnant woman who has had babies before, I’ve never felt so inclined to look like a Christmas ham… I’d eat the underwear like the crackling eats the cooking twine on the pork. ‘

One of the most popular comments, garnering a whopping 12,000 likes, came from a woman who couldn’t believe how lingerie designers could have been so wrong.

“Jesus, take the wheel…how the hell do you think women have to have over 50 pounds of fat, flaps, and flab in this hideous setup?” she wrote.

“I also love how you added the earrings to compliment this outfit, because I’d feel completely underdressed without them!”

Others compared the ensemble to dental floss and said they shuddered at the thought of wearing it.

But some saw a practical use for the revealing design.

“If you can line up the hardware hearts, it would be very helpful for breastfeeding,” one woman wrote.

A representative of the brand joked back: ‘It could be!’

A Bras N Things spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the response was a joy to watch.

“We’ve loved the response and that it has enabled women to express themselves and have fun with it, as evidenced by the sales and interest!” they said.

‘That’s what our brand is all about – along with our fashionably diverse ranges.’
