Luis Suarez scored a dramatic late winner as Atlético Madrid fought back to beat Osasuna and was on the cusp of a first La Liga title in seven years.
Iego Simeone’s squad now travels to Real Valladolid in their last game knowing a victory will take the title.
Ante Budimir’s header had set Osasuna on course for a shocking win and saw Real Madrid briefly at the top of the table.
But Renan Lodi came right before Suarez sent Carrasco’s cross into Yannick.
Both Atletico goals came in the last 10 minutes of a captivating match – and just as it seemed they should give up first place to their city rivals.
“The team played a great game,” said Simeone after the game. “We had a great first half creating opportunities, we were not clinical but controlled the game, then Budimir scored a good goal and the team responded. When we had fewer opportunities, we were more clinical.”
Simeone added of Suarez’s exploits: “Luis came here to prove himself from day one. It is true that he was far from goal, but he has always been there to work for the team. He has authority. is there better than him to win a match we were able to find out when it got away from us. ”
