ASOS sells trousers with a visible thong at the waistband.
The £22 design from emerging brand ASYOU features a black thong protruding from the low-cut waistband, making it appear as if the wearer is showing off their underwear.
The style is a take on the ‘exposed thong’ trend of the 90s, where women flaunt their underwear over the waistband of low jeans, but combine the pants and underwear in one piece.

Why are visible thongs back in fashion?
Celebrity stylist Rochelle White said that popular social media pages devoted to sharing throwbacks from the ’90s and early 2000s should be largely credited for keeping the trend in fashion.
“But also TikTok,” she added. “I feel like a lot of TikTok makers (US based) are slowly bringing back things like Von Dutch, glitter and now-on-the-go thongs.
The catwalk also brought the trend back in 2020. Designer Maximilian Davis brought it back in her SS2021 London Fashion Week show.
‘Not to mention British-Indian designer Supriya Lele and Donatella Versace did the same.’
Stars like Cardi B, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner have snapped in recent months with the strap of their barely worn underwear poking out above the waistbands of their jeans and plunging down backless dresses.
Giving her tips on how to style the look at home, celebrity stylist Rochelle White said: ‘Exposed thongs are making a comeback and becoming more visible than ever. If you want to join this trend recently launched by Dua lipa, look for thongs that suit your style.
“Look for styles that sit comfortably at your waistline or slightly higher so it shows through.
“If you feel like making a statement, the higher the better. Look for high-waisted thongs that sit higher than the pant line and complement your hips.”
She continued: ‘If you want to make it classy, keep it neutral, basic and simple.
“Finish the colors on the outfit you’re wearing and steer clear of bright colors and gaudy patterns.
“Treat it as part of your overall outfit and how you would like it to be seen the way not everyone wants to see it.
“But if they do get a glace or peak, make it a feast for the eyes.”
