A’s is recruiting Tom Hanks to deliver stadium sound during the COVID-19 pandemic

The A’s will send Tom Hanks’ voice into the Colosseum this year to give a realistic feel with no fans or collaborators in the stands.

Hanks will act as a stadium vendor selling hot dogs, scorecards, peanuts and soft drinks.

In his Hollywood career, Hanks delivered Woody’s iconic voice from “Toy Story” and starred in the baseball movie “A League of Their Own”. He was also a salesman before starting his climb into film.

Hanks was born in Concord, California, just a short train ride from Oakland. He is also an avid sports fan.

Like any MLB team, the A’s are trying to find creative ways to bring their baseball field to life without spectators. Together with Hanks’ voice, they will lead fan sounds to the stadium.

Oakland starts its season against the angels on Friday night.
