Dramatic footage shows an arsonist attempting to set fire to a young family’s home, then leaving a trail of flames down the street after setting himself on fire.
Police shared the shocking footage online after the attack at 11.11pm on Sunday night in Gloucester along Bristol Road.
The video shows the attacker pouring petrol through a mailbox and then setting it on fire before fleeing the scene.
But as the man runs away, the flames catch him, and he starts shaking his hand and the container of fuel as he disappears out of frame.
A young family and a child were inside the targeted house, but fortunately no one was injured and the fire was quickly extinguished by the homeowners.

Police are treating the incident as arson with intent to endanger life and are still trying to identify the man in the video.
“Petrol was put through the mailbox at the home of a young family with a child inside and lit,” a police spokesman said.
‘The footage then shows the suspect running away along Alma Terrace.
‘No one was injured and the fire was quickly extinguished by the home owner.
‘The incident is being treated as arson with intent to endanger life and officers investigating the incident have released the footage in the hope that someone can recognize the person responsible.
‘If you think you know the person in the footage, or have information that could assist the police investigation, officers are asking you to come forward.’
