It’s almost time for the Hank holiday in August – a day for (most) people to enjoy a day off.
It’s going to be nice and warm weather, so whether you’re spending the holidays watching TV (or sleeping) or making the most of every minute, you’re looking at a day of options!
As with all Mondays on public holidays, the opening hours of some of the UK’s most essential services may be a little different.
This includes both the post office and Royal Mail delivery services.
Here’s when the post office might be open today and how you can expect your mail delivery to be affected:
Are the post offices open during the August public holiday?
Whether or not a post office is open during the August bank holiday depends on your local branch.
Their website states: “For local post office branches, the post office must be open if your store is open on a public holiday.”
The site also points out that major post offices are contracted to open during retail hours on public holidays.
This means that most post offices will be open today.
As branch hours may vary, it is recommended that you check that your local branch is open before visiting your branch.
Royal Mail does not normally deliver or collect mail on bank holidays and public holidays and there are ‘no collections or deliveries on Monday 30 August.
Their delivery service will resume as normal on Tuesday, August 31.
