Anthony Joshua has congratulated Tyson Fury on his win over Deontay Wilder by praising the Gypsy King’s corner setup.

The 33-year-old Fury retained his heavyweight title after defeating Wilder in their Las Vegas trilogy fight, just two weeks after Joshua lost to Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua’s loss and the loss of his own belt to the Ukrainian has halted plans for an undisputed showdown between the two Brits, at least for the time being.

But he did very well to come out of the storm, but SugarHill deserves a round of applause. That helped him a lot by having that confidence and wisdom in his corner, a great corner setup.

‘So it’s lovely to see him make his family proud, just like I make my family proud, so congratulations to them. And SugarHill Steward and Andy Lee have done an excellent job with Tyson. ‘

While AJ lost his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO titles to the wily Ukrainian southpaw, Fury explosively dethroned Wilder.

But Joshua has claimed that the Bronze Bomber has tried to learn from Fury by comparing his own experiences to Wilder’s.

“He would have frozen half the son of a bitch that he has in his fights,” Joshua continued. ‘And then you take on one of the two good fighters and it shows how difficult it is at the top level.

And now he’s trying to learn because he’s realized that “shit Fury is a decent fighter” and if he uses his ability to learn for fuel, he could go far in the next three or four years.

‘Whereas I have learned from my experiences how to take hits, trying not to get hit. But show emerging fighters that it’s good to be protected, but don’t mess with your opponents, go out there and test your metal.

‘If the fans can’t see, I would take these fights with fighters like Wilder in the blink of an eye, and I want people to know that I would fight anyone in their prime or anytime. Give me a mandatory and I’ll fight anyone, I love the game and I’ll fight anyone. ‘

Fury offered to help train Joshua for his rematch with Usyk ahead of his third fight with Wilder earlier this month, insisting that together with coach SugarHill Steward they can formulate a game plan to defeat the Ukrainian.

“That would be the easiest way to put him in the ring … He’s more than welcome to come into the gym and give me some advice.”
