82-year-old grandmother shocks family when she goes viral on TikTok. announces that she wants to get her first tattoo

An 82-year-old woman shocked her entire family when she announced she wanted her first tattoo “because you never know what tomorrow will bring.”

Judy Dede’s spontaneous decision was captured on camera by her granddaughter, Brandy O’Reilly, who filmed the octogenarian who explained why she made the decision to get her first piece of body art at such a late stage in her life.

“I’m going to blow your mind,” Judy, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, said in the clip, which has been viewed nearly four million times since it was posted last month. “I want a tattoo.”

Judy explained that her husband had tattoos, but she never thought about getting one because it was “unprecedented for a woman to have one” growing up.

“I’m going to amaze you. I want a tattoo,” Judy said in the video, which has been viewed nearly 4 million times since it was posted to TikTok last month.

“It just didn’t happen. I never really thought about it,” she said in another video.

“But every time I turn around, someone has a tattoo. And I just look at them, and I never really thought about myself.

“But now it’s my time. I said, “You know what? You never really know what’s going to happen tomorrow, so you live for today. And tomorrow will take care of itself.”

In an interview with Fox, Judy added that what really prompted her to finally get one was an article she read about living life to the fullest.

“I read an article and it just touched me. And then I said, “You know what, I live each day the best I can because you never know what tomorrow will bring,” she explained.

“We were shopping and had just stopped to go to the supermarket and I said, ‘Turn off the car. I’m going to surprise you. I want a tattoo.’ They were stunned.’

15 days after the video was posted, Judy, Brandy and some other family members went to the tattoo parlor to get tattoos together. And it was a very monumental day for them.

“There were four generations that got a tattoo on her,” Brandy explained. “My two sons—her great-grandsons—had their very first tattoo done on her.”

My mother, myself, my wife and my two daughters-in-law also have tattoos.’

To make it even more special, Brandy’s 10-year-old daughter had someone draw a tattoo on her arm so she could join in too.

As for what she got, Judy opted for a custom design that combined a musical note, ribbon, heart and fishhook.

“The musical note was all-encompassing for our entire family. We are all a little musically inclined. Starting with my mother who wrote music and sang a lot,” Brandy revealed.

‘And I’ve been that way all my life. I just love to sing and dance.’

The ribbon was a tribute to Brandy’s mother-in-law, who died of cancer in 2019, while the fishing hook was for her father, who died of a heart attack in July.

According to Judy, it hardly hurt to get the design on her body permanently.

“It was a piece of cake,” she said on TikTok.

“It hurt, but it wasn’t something I couldn’t deal with. I’ve had numbing injections and stitches before, so this was nothing compared to that.”

She also said she was “speechless” at the amount of positive attention the video received, and that she “never in a million years” thought she would make the news.

“I am so grateful to everyone who has responded and has something to say. It makes everything worth it,” she added.
