5.4-inch iPhone 12 screen reportedly leaks, the same size as the iPhone 11

While the iPhone 12 family will reportedly show a design change similar to the 2020 iPad Pro, Apple may stick to the same notch as the previous generation of models. The latter information was found thanks to a new leak, which reportedly shows the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 screen, revealing other interesting bits of information.

New details show that the iPhone 12 may have an improved screen-to-body ratio

The images previously appeared on the Chinese microblogging website Weibo, where a person named Digital Chat Station got their hands on them. At first glance, when you look at the alleged 5.4-inch iPhone 12 screen, the first thing you notice is that notch. Yes, we’ve noticed it too, and it seems Apple is keeping the same size as the notch on the iPhone 11, suggesting the rumor about smaller notches may not come true after all.

2020 iMac with Intel CPUs scheduled for August; Fully decked 27-inch model May arrive in September

This means that while Apple wants its upcoming iPhone 12 series to look different from the iPhone 11 series, there are some aspects of the upcoming models that will be similar to previous generation handsets. However, one thing that is not shared with the iPhone 11 family is the improved screen-to-body ratio we noticed through this screen leak.

We’re not sure if this improved screen real estate will remain consistent when the actual consumer units are available, but if that’s the case, users will have a device with a smaller footprint, giving them more screen in return. However, one thing that doesn’t arrive for the four iPhone 12 models is the use of 2.5D glass. This could mean that Apple is sticking to a flat glass design on the front and back, which may make all models much easier to grip and use.

Note that this 5.4-inch iPhone 12 assembly is not confirmed to go into production, so it’s best to treat this leak with a pinch of salt for the time being. The latest update on the iPhone 12 launch talks about an unveiling that will apparently take place in September, but availability of these models may take place in October. If and when that happens, we know more about the design and what these phones look like in real life, so stay tuned for more information.
